About Us
Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
The AME (African Methodist Episcopal) Church has a long history of women in ministry, and the AME/WIM (Women in Ministry) is the official professional organization for women pursuing excellence in ministry with the denomination. AME/WIM aims to define, enhance, support, and expand the presence of women in ministry and leadership within the AME Church. They serve as a prophetic voice for parity and justice, advocating for women in ministry and working to address issues of sexism and equal opportunities. AME/WIM operates internationally, serving in the continental United States, Canada, Africa, India, the Caribbean, and Europe. Women have been involved in ministry in the AME Church since its founding. Early female preachers like Jarena Lee and Amanda Smith played significant roles. AME/WIM provides support and resources for women in various ministerial roles, including chaplaincy, teaching, counseling, and more. AME/WIM emphasizes the importance of community and working together to achieve their goals. The goals of the Midwest North District WIM are rooted in the Connectional Church endeavors.
